MISSION STATEMENT

The Divorce Financial Planning Network seeks to benefit both the divorcing public and other professionals serving the divorce community by promoting awareness of the role of the financial planning specialist who is trained and experienced in the divorce process.

This type of specialist is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (formerly known as Certified Divorce Planner (TM) or CDFA (formerly known as CDP) has taken intensive training and exams given by The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (formerly known as ICDP). They know specific tax laws that apply to divorce and have background knowledge of the legal issues in divorce. CDFA's must continue to meet the IDFA renewal standards in order to continue to use the CDFA designation. Many of our members are trained in the Collaborative Divorce process. They include Collaborative Divorce Financial Professionals and Collaborative Divorce Mental Health Specialists/Coaches.

We hold all personal information provided to our organization in the strictest confidence. These records include all personal information that we collect from you in connection with this organization. We have never disclosed information to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law, and do not anticipate doing so in the future. If we were to anticipate such as change in this organization's policy, we would be prohibited under the law from doing so without advising you first. This organization does not provide your personally identifiable information to mailing list vendors or solicitors for any purpose.







How You Benefit

The Divorce Financial Planning Network is a resource group of professionals serving the divorce community in the State of New York. The Network is comprised of divorce financial planners, matrimonial attorneys, mediators, financial planners, accountants, forensic accountants, business valuators, therapists and coaches, and mortgage brokers. Members must abide by the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility adopted by the Divorce Financial Planning Network.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS:

Professionals: Dinner Meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month, unless otherwise noted.  Milleridge Inn, 585 North Broadway, Jericho, NY.  Meeting time is 6:00 p.m. Networking, Dinner & Lecture 6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m.  CPA, CDFA, CFP, CSW continuing education credits pending.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - Topic:  The Special Needs Child in the Divorce Process Speaker:   Saundra M. Gumerove, Esq., Law Offices of Saundra M. Gumerove 

Learn how the children of Special Needs are affected in the divorce process.  This presentation is an important topic for all who have clients that are dealing with a Special Needs Child or want to know more about Children with Special Needs in Divorce, Guardianships, and the Special Needs Trust.  You will hear the Legal Issues relating to the Special Needs Child in Divorce as well as the Emotional Issues presented by a Child Specialst. 

A Q&A session will follow the more formal presentation.
